About Coastal Montessori

Our drive is to bring an authentic Montessori education, based on the principles, methods, and activities of Maria Montessori to the community of Aldinga and surrounds. We aim to provide all children with the opportunity to be independent, self-motivated learners in an environment of peace and respect.

We understand that all children learn differently and at their own pace. In an environment that allows children to follow their interests, children feel autonomous and successful and sets them on the path of a life-long love of learning.

We believe in the limitless capabilities of young minds. In order for children to achieve and become lifelong learners, we provide an engaging and stimulating environment to nurture a positive attitude towards learning.

Careful observations and knowledge of each child ensure we are considering the development of the whole child. As well as the academic curriculum, the environment is carefully designed to enhance social and emotional development, gross and fine motor skills and development of the senses. Through play, discovery, and learning practical skills, we foster a culture of curiosity and community. Following the philosophy of Maria Montessori, we lead with the belief that ‘what the hand does, the mind remembers’.

Coastal Montessori would like to acknowledge the Kaurna people as the traditional owners of the lands and waters of the Adelaide region on which the Coastal Montessori operates. We pay our respects to Elders past and present. We acknowledge and respect the Kaurna people's cultural, spiritual, physical and emotional connection with their land, waters and community. We also acknowledge and respect the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and other Indigenous peoples that may visit or be represented at the centre.
